Private Chauffeur · Gare de Lyon
Private chauffeur
at Gare de Lyon.
Book & Smile coordinates private chauffeurs at Gare de Lyon, the station for the south and east: TGV and high-speed arrivals from Nice, Marseille, Lyon, Geneva, Lausanne, Milan and the Alpine resorts. The train is followed, the chauffeur waits at the exit of your hall with a name sign, luggage goes to the vehicle, and the car continues to your hotel, residence or meeting — or to the airport for an onward flight.
Gare de Lyon has three halls — Hall 1 under the clock tower, Hall 2 alongside, Hall 3 below — with platforms lettered and numbered differently, and a forecourt on boulevard Diderot and place Louis-Armand that fills on Friday and Sunday evenings.
Arriving from the Riviera or the Alps with skis, luggage and children into the wrong hall is a poor start to Paris. A chauffeur who does not know which hall your TGV uses is a chauffeur you will be telephoning.
What if the end of the TGV were simply the chauffeur's name, the hall, and a car that already knew where you were dining tonight?
What we coordinate
- TGV arrivals — Nice, Marseille, Avignon, Lyon, Geneva, Lausanne, Milan and the Alpine stations; train followed, chauffeur at the exit of the right hall with a name sign
- Departures — pick-up timed to the train and the evening's traffic on boulevard Diderot; ski and Riviera departures on Friday evenings planned early
- Luggage and equipment — skis, golf bags and family luggage to the vehicle; larger vehicles when needed
- Hotel and residence transfers — the Marais, the 1st, the 8th, the Left Bank, typically 15 to 35 minutes
- Onward journeys — Gare de Lyon to CDG, Orly or Le Bourget, or to Gare du Nord for the Eurostar, timed to the connection
- Seasonal returns — the Sunday-evening pick-up after a weekend in the south, as a standing arrangement for members
Gare de Lyon, practically
The station serves the south-east of France and beyond: the Riviera, Provence, Lyon and Burgundy, Switzerland and Italy, and the Alpine resorts in winter. TGVs arrive in Hall 1 (the historic station, platforms A to N), Hall 2 (platforms 5 to 23) or Hall 3 on the lower level; the hall depends on the train, which is why we confirm the meeting point from your train number rather than from the destination.
From Gare de Lyon, the Marais and Bastille are minutes away, the 1st and the 8th 15 to 30 minutes, the Left Bank 15 to 25 across the Seine. Friday and Sunday evenings are the station's peaks; we plan departures with a margin.
Riviera, Alps and Switzerland
Many clients split their time between Paris and the south — a residence in Provence or on the Riviera, a season in the Alps, meetings in Geneva — and use the train rather than the plane. The Gare de Lyon pick-up becomes a standing arrangement: the same chauffeur where possible, the apartment opened, dinner held. Our lifestyle management and private concierge services carry the rest.
What we do not do
We cannot meet you on the platform itself. We coordinate the car and its timing, confirm the hall and exit in writing, and remain your point of contact if the train is delayed.
Who asks us
Clients travelling between Paris and the Riviera, Provence or the Alps
Executives arriving from Lyon, Geneva or Milan for meetings
Families returning from the south on Sunday evenings
FAQ
Where does the chauffeur wait at Gare de Lyon?
At the exit of the hall your train uses — Hall 1, 2 or 3 — with a name sign. We confirm it in writing from your train number.
Can you handle skis and large luggage?
Yes — tell us when booking and we coordinate a vehicle of the right size.
How long from Gare de Lyon to the 8th or to Saint-Germain?
Typically 15 to 30 minutes to the 8th and 15 to 25 to Saint-Germain, longer on Friday and Sunday evenings.
Do you own the vehicles?
No. Book & Smile coordinates professional partner chauffeurs and remains your single point of contact — booking, timing, changes, follow-up. You never deal with the chauffeur company directly unless you wish to.
What happens if my flight or train is late?
Pick-up times are adjusted to the actual arrival. We follow flight and train schedules and brief the chauffeur; you do not need to call anyone.
Is the service bookable online?
No. Transportation is arranged by message or call through your concierge, as part of a wider request or on its own. Terms are set in a private consultation.
